Manuel Filipe Correia de Jesus was born on December 16th, 1941. He currently practices as a lawyer and an university teacher.

Political Career

Besides being the president of the General Assembly of Madeira’s House in Lisbon, Correia de Jesus is also the president of the Parliamentary Group for Friendship Portugal-Venezuela, the vice-president of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship Portugal-Brazil and a member of the Parliamentary Group for Friendship Portugal-Germany. This is his seventh mandate as a deputy at the National Parliament for the PSD political force, since he started his activity on the 6th legislature (1991-11-04). He takes actually part of several parliamentary committees (Constitutional Affairs, Rights, Freedoms and Guarantees; National Defense; Healthcare).

Education

Correia de Jesus holds a Bachelor degree in Law.

Correia de Jesushas been awarded with the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany; the Grand Cross of the Order of Civil Merit of Spain; the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of Luxembourg; the Medal of National Defence - 1st Class; and theGrand Officer of the Order of Merit of France. He i salso the author of several published works, namely about the the Portuguese communities living abroad theme.
