Claudia Durchschlag, born on August 15, 1958 in Linz (Upper Austria), is an Austrian politician, physiotherapist and a Member of Parliament for the ÖVP (Österreichische Volkspartei, Austrian People's Party) since 2007.

Political career

Durchschlag spent six years as a Member of the Municipal Council of the Statutory Steyr (1997-2003) and after changing her residence, she has been Member of the municipal council of the municipality Neuhofen an der Krems since 2003. In addition, she became the ÖVP Linz-Land District Director of the women's movement in that same year. Since 2004, she has been Chair of the Austrian women's movement in the province of Upper Austria. Durchschlag ranked high after the general election in October 2006 and started her National Council mandate on July 2, 2007. She resigned however on October 27, 2008 after the national election in 2008. She then became a Member of the Upper Austrian Landtag (2009-2010). Furthermore, Claudia Durchschlag has been a Board member of the Social Assistance Association Linz-Land since 2009. In the legislature up until 2013, she was a member of the Committee on Consumer Protection, Committee for Human Rights, Committee on Sports Affairs, Health Committee, Equality Committee, Culture Committee.

Education

Claudia Durchschlag attended elementary school in Wollersdorf (1964-1968), middle school in Vienna (1968-1972) and after that the Artistic-educational secondary school in Vienna (1972-1976). After a technical education at the Vienna General Hospital, she started working as a physiotherapist in 1979.
