Jank, Brigitte

Brigitte Jank, born on September 19th, 1951 in Wien, is an Austrian politician and Member of Parliament for the ÖVP (Österreichische Volkspartei, Austrian People's Party). In addition, Jank was President of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce from 2004 until 2014.

Political Career[edit]

From 2000 until 2004, Brigitte Jank was the Chairwoman of the Section on real estate and property trustees of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce. From March 2003 to November 2004, she was a Vice President and then became its President as of December 1st, 2004. In addition, she has been the National Group chairwoman of the Austrian Economic Association (ÖWB) from 2004 to 2014. Brigitte Jank has been a member of the state party executive of the ÖVP Vienna since 2006. Afterwards she was a member of the State Executive Committee of the ÖVP Vienna. She was sworn in on October 29th, 2013 as member of the Austrian National Council. Since 2014, Jank is an Honorary Chairwoman of the Vienna Economic Association.


Besides her work as a real estate manager, and as President of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce, she has held many other positions, such as the Vice-Presidency of the football club FK Austria Vienna (since 2008), Vice-President of the International Real Estate Federation FIABCI, Honorary Senator of the University of Applied Arts Vienna, lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences Vienna (FH-Studiengang real estate industry), Chairman of the University Council of the Modul University Vienna and Chairwoman of the Economic Association of Vienna.

Education[edit]

After completing elementary and middle school, Brigitte Jank completed the Commercial Trade Academy of Wr. Merchants 1010 Vienna in 1971 with the Matura. She then started her career in the real estate industry, where she has been working as a self-employed entrepreneur. In 1998, she qualified as a certified expert in real estate.
