Bohuslav Svoboda was born on February the 8th, 1944 in Prague. He is a Czech gynaecologist and obstetrician and a politicians of the Civic Democratic Party. Between 2010-2013 he was the Mayor of Prague.

Education

Bohuslav Svoboda graduated from the Medical Faculty of Hygiene, Charles University in Prague. Between 2003-2010 he was also head of the 3rd Medical Faculty of Charles University.

Political career

between 1992 and 1998, he was the first president of the Czech Medical Chamber. In 1998, he unsuccessfully ran for the Senate in Liberec. Between 2003-2010 he headed the 3rd Medical Faculty of Charles University. In 2010, as leader of the ODS, he was elected in elections to Prague municipal government. After an agreement on a coalition government with the Social Democrats he became the mayor of Prague, the Czech capital. Although he was considered a fair mayor, on 23 May 2013 he was dismissed from the post of Mayor. In the autumn of that year he was elected to Parliament.
