Barbara Pollastrini (September 30, 1947) is an Italian activist and politician.

She obtained a degree in Languages and Foreign Literature from the University "Luigi Bocconi" in Milan.

Political career[edit]

Former member and city coordinator in Milan for the Partito Comunista Italiano, she entered the Italian Chamber of Deputies in 1992 for Partito Democratico della Sinistra, serving as a member of Social Affairs Commission and in the Commission on the General Direction and Supervision of Broadcasting Services.

In 1996 she was absolved from the charge of corruption after an inquiry started from 1992 Mani Pulite scandal.

In 2001 she was elected again in the Chamber of Deputies for Democratici della Sinistra, working in the Foreign and Communitarian Affairs Commission, in the Constitutional, Presidential and Internal Affairs Commission and in the European Policy Commission.

She worked in the Culture, Science and Education Commission. In this term of office, she was appointed by the prime minister to the Rights and Equal Opportunities Ministry.
