August Wöginger, born on November 2, 1974 in Passau, is an Austrian politician for the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP). He has been a Member of Parliament since 2002.

Political Career

August Wöginger has been politically active since he was 16. From 1997 to 2002, he was a Councilor for the municipality Esternberg. In addition, he has been active since 2003 in the municipal council of Sigharting. There he is also Vice Mayor since 2008. Since 2009, he is Member of the state party executive of the ÖVP. Wöginger is the Vice Chairman of the ÖVP parliamentary group since 2013. He is the Social Speaker of the ÖVP Group. In the current legislative, he is a member of the Finance Committee, Committee for Labour and Social Affairs, Committee on Agriculture and Forestry, Committee for Human Rights, Family Committee and Health Committee.

Notable Work

August Wöginger is since 1995 an employee of the Red Cross in the District Secretariat of Schärding. In 2006, he was elected as Council Chairman of the Red Cross Austria.

He is furthermore since 2007 a Member of the Board of the Austrian Workers and Employers Federation (ÖAAB) and since 2011, the Federal Deputy Chair of the ÖAAB. In 2012 he became the Secretary General of the Federation.

Education

After attending primary and secondary school in Münzkirchen, he attended the Business Academy in Schärding where he graduated in 1994.
