Asdin El Habbassi, born on December 5, 1986 in Hallein, is an Austrian politician for the ÖVP (Österreichishe Volkspartei - Austrian People's Party) and Member of the Austrian Parliament since 2013.

Political Career

Asdin El Habbassi was Member of the Board of the Young ÖVP (JVP) and Member of the executive committee of the Youth ÖVP (JVP) Salzburg from 2009-2012. Since 2012, he has been Federal deputy chairman of the Young People's Party (JVP) and State Chairman of the Young ÖVP (JVP) Salzburg. In addition, he is BMHS provincial education spokesman and State Chairman of the Salzburg Student Union. He has been a Member of Parliament for the Austrian Peoples's Party since 2013. El Habbassi is the first Muslim to gain a seat for the ÖVP in the Austrian Parliament.

Education

From 1993 to 1997, El Habbassi attended the elementary school St. Andrew in Salzburg. He attended the Europe-Salzburg Nonntal school until 2001, and as from 2001, the Commercial Academy II in Salzburg, where he graduated in 2006. After completing his military service in Salzburg, he studied at the University of Salzburg and graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business.
