Andrej Šircelj was born on 28 February 1959 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. He is a member of the Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS; Slovene: SDS - Slovenska demokratske stranke) and a member of the the National Assembly (Državni zbor Republike Slovenije).

Political Career[edit]

Šircelj first got into politics in 1992 when he started working as an advisor to the Government of the Republic of Slovenia. He was State Secretary of the Government from 2005 until 2008. Since 2011 Šircelj has been a member of the National Assembly. He is the chairperson of the Commission for the ontrol Public Finances Control, a member of the Committee on Finance and Monetary Policy, and a member of the Committee on Foreign Policy. He is also a member of the delegation at the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly and a member of the National Assembly's standing delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

Education[edit]

Šircelj graduated from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Ljubljana. Subsequently he attained a master's degree in Law at the University of Maribor.
