Andreas Schieder, born on April 16, 1969 in Vienna, is an Austrian politician, Member of Parliament and current Chair of the SPÖ (Sozialdemokratische Partei Österreichs; Social Democratic Party of Austria) in the National Council. From 1994 to 1997, Andreas Schieder was Vice-President of the Socialist Youth International (IUSY) and President of the European Young Socialists (ECOSY) from 1997 to 1999. He has been a member of the District Council in Vienna Penzing, and from 1997 to 2006 he was a Member of the Viennese State Parliament and Municipal Council. In 2002, Schieder succeeded his father Peter Schieder as Area Chairman of the SPÖ Penzing and since 2005, he has been a member of the state executive committee of the SPÖ Vienna. On 30th October 2006, he was sworn in as a Member of Parliament, where he became the Foreign Policy Spokesman for his party, the SPÖ. Since 10th January 2007, he has been the International Secretary of the SPÖ-Federal organization.

In 2008, he was chosen as successor to the State Secretary in the Federal Chancellery Heidrun Silhavy, who moved to the Ministry of Women, Media and Regional Policy at the Federal Chancellery. Schieder then served as State Secretary in charge of the civil service. On December 2, 2008, he was sworn in to the Federal Government as State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Finance. In 2013, Andreas Schieder became the new Chair of the SPÖ in Parliament.

Andreas Schieder, born on April 16, 1969 in Vienna, is an Austrian politician, Member of Parliament and current Chair of the SPÖ (Sozialdemokratische Partei Österreichs; Social Democratic Party of Austria) in the National Council. From 2008 until 2013, he was State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Finance.

Political Career

From 1994 to 1997, Andreas Schieder was Vice-President of the Socialist Youth International (IUSY) and President of the European Young Socialists (ECOSY) from 1997 to 1999. He has been a member of the District Council in Vienna Penzing, and from 1997 to 2006 he was a Member of the Viennese State Parliament and Municipal Council. In 2002, Schieder succeeded his father Peter Schieder as Area Chairman of the SPÖ Penzing and since 2005, he has been a member of the state executive committee of the SPÖ Vienna. On 30th October 2006, he was sworn in as a Member of Parliament, where he became the Foreign Policy Spokesman for his party, the SPÖ. Since 10th January 2007, he has been the International Secretary of the SPÖ-Federal organization.
