Adam Lipiński beginn his career as a member the of democractic opposition to the communist government in Poland. In 1970 he was an active member of the Student Solidarity Committee. In 1981 he was chief of Publishing House of Solidarity in Wrocław. Until 1989 he had to remain undercover but he was active in Conspiratorial Underground. In 1989, he became the president of the Centre for Democratic member of the Citizens' Committee in Wroclaw, founded the Center Alliance in Lower Silesia and was a a member of the Parliament of the Independent Poland (1991-1993).
