Education

Álvaro Escribano Saéz holds a PhD in Economics from the University of California, San Diego, and a Bachelor in Economics from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.

Political Career

Since 1998, Álvaro Escribano Saéz has been a professor of Economics at the Universidad Carlos III Madrid, where he is also the Vice Rector. He holds the Telefonica-UC3M Chair in Telecommunications Economics, and is the director of the Master's degree in Industrial Economics at the UC3M since 1995. Since 2007, he has also been the Vice Chancellor of International Relations and Cooperation. He is an Associate Editor of Studies in Nonlinear Dynamics and Econometrics, Macroeconomic Dynamics and Cuadernos Económicos de ICE. He is also the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law, as Adjoint Vice-Chancellor of Computers and Libraries. Moreover, he is the director of the Master’s in Industrial Organization and Markets at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. He was also a short-term consultant for the World Bank.
