Datin Seri Blanche Olbery, Ambassador of Malaysia to Finland during The Helsinki Conference on International Law & Women's Rights 2014

Datin Seri Blanche Olbery has been the Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Finland since 2013, she is married to HE Ambassador Olbery is married to Datuk Seri M. Kayveas, a Malaysian politician.

Political Career

Prior to her current appointment, Ms Olbery was the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Papua New Guinea from 2009 to 2013. During her tenure in Port Moresby, she also served as the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps from 2011-2013.

Education

In addition to her diplomatic assignment, HE Ambassador Olbery was also a lawyer by profession. She received her LLB (Hons.) from the University of Buckingham, England. This was followed by qualification for Certificate of Legal Practice (CLP) from the University of Malaya and she was admitted to the Malaysian Bar in 1986, a year after obtaining her CLP. Since then, she specialized in commercial and family law practices. In 2006, HE Ambassador Olbery was accredited as a Mediator of the Bar Council Malaysia before obtaining her Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) in 2008.
