George Osborne (Conservative) Member of British Parliament

George Osborne was born in London in 1971, and is best known as Chancellor of the Exchequer of the UK under David Cameron.

Political Career

George Osborne became MP for Tatton, Cheshire, in 2001.After serving on the Public Accounts Committee and holding a number shadow ministerial posts, he was appointed to the position of Shadow Chancellor in 2005, aged 33, where he served opposite Chancellors Gordon Brown and Alistair Darling until 2010. The Chancellor of the Exchequer deals with fiscal and monetary policy, and is considered responsible for the Treasury. He still has the normal responsibilities of representation of his constituency as a typical MP does.

Education

George Osborne studied Modern History at the University of Oxford, although all of his prior education was in London. He was privately educated from an early age.
