Carlo Galli

Biography

Carlo Galli was born on December 7th 1950 in Modena, Emilia Romagna. He is a Italian politician of Partito Democratico (PD), an accademic professor and a philosopher.


Education and job career

In 1972 he hot a Master degree in philosophy at University of Bologna with Felice Battaglia. In 1978 he started to work as an accademic professor of Political Teory History at the University of Bologna. From 1985 to 1990 he was a member of the editorial staff of the Italian magazine "il Mulino" and from 2006 to 20012 he was a member of its management staff. In 1987 he was one of the founders of the Italian magazine "Filosofia Politica". Since 2009 he has been President of the Fondazione Gramsci Emilia-Romagna. He has worked with a lot of Italian, European and American Universities and has collaborated with Italian cultural and political perdiodical and newspaper. He has pubblished a lot of essays about Machiavelli, Hobbes, Weber, Tönnies, Arendt, Strauss, Voegelin, Löwith, Jünger, Schmitt e Vitoria, and Frankfurt School philosophers.


Political career

In the general elections of 2013 he was elected in the italian Chambres of deputies for the Partito Democratico for the district of Emilia Romagna. Additionally, from May 2013 he is member of the Defence Commission. From May 2013 to February 2014 he was member of the Foreign Affairs Commission.
