  • From 1991 she worked as a Member of Parliament and Second President of Parliament in the Upper Austrian politics.
  • In 1995 she was elected as Regional Minister for Housing, Nature Conservation and Management police the first female member of the Upper Austrian government and the federal SPÖ as one of the deputy party chairman.
  • 1997 Barbara Prammer was appointed to the Federal Government, for three years she led as a federal minister, departmental Women's Affairs and Consumer Protection.
  • In 1997 she also took over - until 2009 - the presidency of the SPÖ women.
