Pavel Ploc

Pavel Ploc was born on 15th of June 1964. He is a member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic for ČSSD (Czech Social Democratic Party).

Political Career[edit]

He entered politics in 1998 when he was elected to the city council of Harrachov for the Democratic regional party. In the elections in 2006, 2010 and 2013 he was on the ticket of the Social Democratic Party and was elected a member of the Chamber of Deputies. In 2008, he was also elected to the regional council of the Region of Liberec (however he resigned in January 2010). In the Chamber of Deputies, he is a vice-chairman of the Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport and a member of the Committee on European Affairs.

Notable Work[edit]

He has been an active athlete since his youth. In 1983, he broke the world record in ski jumping. During his career in sports, he won bronze (Sarajevo, 1984) and silver medals (Calgary, 1988) at the Winter Olympics and World Cup (1987-1988). After leaving his active sports career, he became coach of the Czech national team ski jumping. He was the head coach at the Olympics in Nagano (1998).
