May Blood, Baroness Blood of Blackwatertown was born on 26 May 1938) is a Labour member of the British House of Lords since 1999.


Political career[edit]

From 1994 until 1998 she was Information Officer at the Great Shankill Early Years Project. Then, from 1999 on, she was Chairman of Shankhill Sure Start. Between 1999 and 2003 she was Non Executive Director of the North West Belfast Health & Social Care. From 2001 until 2010 she was trustee of Barnardos UK. She was campaign chair of Integrated Education Fund and chair of Barnados Northern Ireland. Since 2012 she is board member of Ulster Historical Society.


Education[edit]

In 1998, she was awarded an honorary degree from the University of Ulster and she received an honorary D.Univ from the Queen's University of Belfast in 2000, and again from the Open University the following year.
