Lord Wright of Richmond

Lord Wright of Richmond is a Crossbench member of the House of Lords. He joined the House of Lords in February 1994. He most recently served on the EU Sub-Committee on Justice and Institutions from 2007 to 2011.

Political Career[edit]

Between 1955 and 1991 he served in HM Diplomatic Service. He served as Ambassador to Luxembourg from 1977 to 1979, to the Syrian Arab Republic from 1979 to 1981, and to Saudi Arabia from 1984 to 1986.

In 1986 he became Permanent Under Secretary and Head of HM Diplomatic Service until 1991. He has also served as the EU Sub-Committee on Home Affairs, the European Union Committee and the Joint Committee on Conventions.

Notable Work[edit]

Since 1991 he has been a Non-Executive Director for Barclays Bank, BP and De La Rue.
