Julian Brazier
Julian Brazer is the Conservative MP for Canterbury and Whitstable.
Political Career[edit]
Julian Brazier was elected as a member of Parliament for Canterbury and Whitstable in 1987. He has been active in his parliamentary career, he was appointed as Parliamentary Private Secretary to Gillian Shephard, who was a Treasury Minister and then Secretary of State for Employment in 1990 and in 1996 won the Spectator Parliamentary Backbencher of the Year award for his campaigns defending marriage and amending legislation to sell off MoD housing to protect service families. In 1997 Julian was re-elected and subsequently appointed to the Defence Select Committee. In 2000 Brazier co-founded the All Party Adoption group of which he then became co-chair. Julian left the Defence Select Committee in 2001 when he was appointed to the Opposition Whip's Office, he was subsequently appointed as Shadow Minister for Work and Pensions in 2002. Julian has since held a large number of positions, he was appointed Shadow Minister for the Home Office in 2003 where he had a specific responsibility for drugs and and alcohol abuse, he went on to be appointed Shadow Minister for Trade and International Development before becoming Shadow Transport Minister with responsibility for aviation and shipping in 2005. In 2011 Julian was appointed by the Prime Minister to the Reserve Commission as Deputy to the Vice Chair of the Defence Staff, General Sir Nicholas Houghton a position he held until being appointed Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the Ministry of Defence in 2014.

Julian Brazier was educated at Wellington College and won a scholarship in Mathematics to Oxford University.
