Gregory Barker

Gregory Barker (born 8 March 1966) is a British Conservative Party politician and the Member of Parliament for Bexhill and Battle. In May 2010 he was appointed Minister of State for Energy and Climate Change.

Political Career[edit]

Baker was elected Conservative Member of Parliament for Bexhill and Battle in 2001. He served on the House of Commons Environmental Audit select committee from 2001-2005 before going on to shadow the Environment and Climate Change portfolios in Opposition under David Cameron. Following the 2010 General Election, Greg was appointed Minister of State at the Department of Energy and Climate Change (“DECC”). During his period in office, he became the longest serving UK energy minister for a generation. He was appointed to the Privy Council in 2012.

He was educated at Royal Holloway College, University of London and London Business School.
