George Galloway

George Galloway is born the 16th of August 1954 in Dundee, Scotland. He is a British politician, broadcaster, and writer. Since late March 2012 he has been the Respect Party Member of Parliament for Bradford West. George Galloway is famous for his support for Palestine in the Isreal-Palestine conflict and take a big anti-Zionist.

George Galloway was educated at Charleston Primary and then Harris Academy, a non-denominational school.

Political Career[edit]

Galloway joined the Labour Party Young Socialists at 13 years old and was still a teenager when he became secretary of the Dundee Labour Party. Galloway became Vice-Chairman of the Labour Party in the City of Dundee and a member of the Scottish Executive Committee in 1975. Galloway became the secretary organiser of Dundee Labour Party in 1977 and was the youngest ever chairman of the Scottish Labour Party in March 1981 at 26 years old. He was expelled from the Labour Party after almost 40 years in the party because of his opposition to the Iraq war. Galloway returned to Parliament at the March 2012 Bradford West by-election with the Respect Party. The Respect Party is a left-wing socialist party which was formed in 2004.
