Christopher John Cocksworth

Christopher John Cocksworth was born on the 12th January 1959. He is currently the 9th Bishop of Coventry.

Political Career[edit]

Cocksworth entered the House of Lords in 2013 as the Bishop of Coventry. His Political interests include higher education and schools, health care, conflict resolution and reconciliation. He also has a strong interest in Germany, India and Syria.

Education[edit]

Cocksworth studied at the University of Manchester in which he studied theology and gained a first class honours. He later went on to gain a PHD under the supervision of Richard Bauckham.

Notable Works[edit]

Cocksworth is a patron to a number of organisations including the Mary Ann Evans Hospice, Global Care, Coventry Food bank and the British Organisation for People of Asian Origin. He is also Chair of the Church of England Faith & Order Commission and Co-Chair of the Anglican Methodist Covenant Joint Implementation Commission. Cocksworth has also published a number of works in the area of Christian theology and worship. His book ‘Holding Together: Gospel, Church and Spirit’ was shortlisted for the 2011 Michael Ramsey Prize.
