Bernhard Themessl

Bernhard Themessl, born on October 15th, 1951 in Kufstein, is an Austrian politician, Insurance salesman and Member of Parliament for the FPÖ (Freiheitliche Partei Österreichs; Freedom Party of Austria).

Political Career[edit]

Themessl became part of the Austrian Freedom Party in 1975. In 1985, he became part of the representation of the city Hohenems and between 1990 and 1995, he held the post of the chairman of the audit committee of Hohenems. In 1995, Themessl became vice mayor for the city council of Hohenems. After the People's Party victory in the elections in Hohenems in 2000, Themessl his position as Vice Mayor. He then left the city council for the School city council. In 2003 he moved to the Vorarlberg Landtag, where he remained until after the heavy losses of the Freedom Party in the parliamentary elections in 2004. He was later elected as an MP in the National Council.

In addition, Themessl has been part of the FPÖ as a member of the district leadership and member of the provincial party leadership. Between 1995 and 2004, he was also chairman of the town party of Hohenems and since 1996, he has been District Party Chairman's deputy. Furthermore, Themessl is a longstanding member of the national executive committee of the FPÖ Vorarlberg.

Education[edit]

Bernhard Themessl attended elementary school and then completed grammar school in Lienz in 1971. After his military service in the Haspinger barracks, Themessl began training as a shipping clerk for Delacher & Co in Bregenz. After completing his training, Bernhard Themessl worked as a shipping clerk, as a manager at the firm Metro, and as a shipping manager of A. Bösch transports. Since 1996, Themessl has been an independent insurance salesman.
