Ben Bradshaw
Benjamin Peter James Bradshaw (born 30 August 1960) is a British Labour Party politician who has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Exeter since 1997. He was the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport from 2009 to 2010.
Political career[edit]
Before entering into Politics, Ben worked in journalism with various posts of which the highlight came when he had to report from the city on the fall of the Berlin wall for BBC radio.
In 1997, Ben was elected as the MP for Exeter with 29,938 votes. This represented a majority of 11,705 votes and a swing of 12.5% to Labour.
Ben was then made a Minister in the Foreign Office in 2001 which he followed with a post as Deputy Leader of the Commons and Environment Minister before joining the Health team in 2007.
Ben then assumed the post of Secretary of State at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport between June 2009 and May 2010.
Education[edit]
Ben's schooling began at Thorpe Grammar School, which was followed by the university of Sussex where he read for a degree in German. During his time at University he also attended the University of Freiburg, Germany.
