Baroness Young of Hornsey

Baroness Young of Hornsey OBE, is a Crossbench member of the House of Lords. She joined the House of Lords in June 2004 and is currently a member of the EU Sub Committee on External Affairs.

Political Career[edit]

She was a member of the EU Sub Committee on Social Policies and Consumer Protection between 2007 and 2012, becoming its chairwoman in 2010. She was also a member of the European Committee from 2010 to 2013 and the Draft House of Lords Reform Bill Committee from 2011 to 2012.

Notable Work[edit]

She was a Professor of Cultural Studies at Middlesex University from 1992 to 2001. She was Head of Culture for the Greater London Authority between 2002 and 2004, and in 2004, was Founding Director for Cultural Brookes. She was also a board member for the Royal National Theatre and the South Bank Centre.
