Alexandros Dermentzopoulos
Alexandros Dermentzopoulos was born in Orestiada , Evros in 1953. He is a Greek politician and civil engineer. In the national elections of March 2004, September 2007 and March 2009 he was elected member of the Greek Parliament with the party of New Democracy in the Evros region.
Political Career[edit]
He has several fully active and organized political offices in Orestiada, Didymotiho and Alexandroupolis. During the period 2004-2007 he was Divisional President of Ministry for the Environment, Physical Planning and Public works. Furthermore, he was a member of the Standing Economic Affairs Committee and member of the Special Permanent Technology Assessment Committee. For the period of 2007-2012 he was Head of the Ministry for the Environment, Physical Planning and Public Works. Moreover, he was also a member of the Standing Economic Affairs Committee, a member of the Special Permanent Technology Assessment Committee,a member of the Special Permanent Committee on Greeks Abroad and President of the Cultural, Educational and Social Affairs Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation(PABSEC). Re-elected in the national elections of May 2012 and June 2012 with the party of New Democracy, and currently holding the positions of Chairman of the Committee on the Financial Statement and the General Balance Sheet and the Implementation of the State Budget.In addition he is a member of the Standing Economic Affairs Committe, a member of the Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs, a member of the Special Permanent Committee on Greeks Abroad and Head of the Greek representatives in the Inter–Parliamentary Union (IPU)

He is a Civil Engineer, graduated from the Polytechnic School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, in 1977.
Notable Work[edit]
Founding member and First President of Engineers Association of Northern Evros during the years 1987-1988. Elected President of Scientists Special Party Committee of New Democracy in Orestiada during the years 1989-1993. Elected Member of the Administrating Committee of Greek Technical Chamber of Thrace during the years 1989-1993 with the syndicalist party of DKM. Founding member and President for many years of the Cinema Club of Orestiada 1980. From 1993 he moved to Tourist/Hospitality Business as an owner of a Hotel Unit in Orestiada.
