Adenauer, Konrad (January 5, 1876 - April 19, 1967)

German politician and the first post- war Chancellor of Germany (West Germany) from 1949-1963. During his time as Chancellor, Germany went through a post-war transition to achieve prosperity, democracy, stability. He was also the first leader of the Christian Democratic Union, still one of the most important political parties in Germany today. Under the rule of Adenauer, Germany managed to slowly rebuild its position within Europe and the world.
