Uwe Karl Beckmeyer

Uwe Karl Beckmeyer is a member of the SPD and was born on March 26th, 1949 in Bremerhaven, Germany. He is a parliamentary state secretary to the Federal Minister of Economics and Energy.

Political Career[edit]

From 1975 to 1987, Beckmeyer has been a member of the Bremen City Parliament (Landtag) and from 1987 to 1991 was Senator for Economics, Technology and Foreign Trade and then from 1991 to1995 Senator for ports, shipping, trade, economy and technology. Between 1995 and 1999 he was Senator for Ports, Transport, External Trade and Labor and between 1999 and 2002 he was a Member of the Bremen City Parliament (Landtag). Since 2002, he has been a member of the German Bundestag.

Education[edit]

From 1968 to 1970, Beckmeyer studied Social Sciences. He completed his first and second state examination.
