The Australian Trade Commission Frankfurt in cooperation with the Australian Embassy in Berlin and the GOstralia! Research Centre are organizing the Research Forum Berlin 2016, on March 16th. The event will be held at the Australian Embassy and is aimed at interested universities and media representatives, including professors and students. The Forum will begin with the Research Symposium holding presentations and case studies concerning current trends, issues and prospects for the future of German-Australian research cooperation. This is followed by a Research Fair & Networking Reception, consisting of a research exhibition where interested students will have a chance to meet and network with representatives from both Australian and German universities and research institutions, enabling a platform for discussions and exchange. Among the Australian universities that will be represented during the day are the UNSW Australia, Monash University, the University of Melbourne, Queensland University of Technology, the RMIT University, the University of Technology Sydney and Swinburne University of Technology. There will also be a workshop focusing on the application to Australian Universities providing more detailed information about the process.

The Australian Embassy in Berlin has for many years been promoting cooperation between Australia and Berlin and the two countries maintain a warm and open relationship. In 2012 they celebrated 60 years of diplomatic relations and they are currently working closely together within multilateral fields such as trade, tourism and education. Regarding education and innovation, which is the focus of the upcoming Forum, Australia and Germany already share strong ties, with more than 500 partnerships and cooperation agreements existing between Australian and German universities.
