About Société Générale[edit]

Société Générale is a French multinational banking and financial service company that operates in 34 countries all over the world, with over 12.000 employees. The group is the third largest banking company in France and resides in 8th position in the European ranking. The group carries out three main activities: investment banking, financing and markets.

Engagement in Cultural Diplomacy[edit]

The group has a strong support policy, but their activities are often carried out in a discreet manner. Whereas their sponsorships of sport teams, such as in rugby, is well-known, their supporting policies in music, contemporary art, corporate citizenship, professional integration and helps for disadvantaged children are less well known.

Employment Policy[edit]

The company is formed by over 148.300 employees, who work over all areas in which the company operates. Since 2011, the group launched a new baseline, "Building team spirit together", which is meant to create an environment of trust not only regarding the workers-costumer relationship, but also among the company's employees.

Education[edit]

The company is strongly committed to social integration through education and employment. In these lines, the group launched a campaign in 2008 to support local communities of the areas where it operates. At the same time, within the company, the employees are offered several career and training opportunities, where training programs and promoting a policy of continuous learning is carried out.

International Internship Program[edit]

Société Générale offers a certain amount of summer internships for all of those young students who aim to build a career in the world of finances. The Internship Program lasts from 10 to 12 weeks and it is based both in London and in New York.

Promoting Human and Civil Rights[edit]

The company has a Citizenship Programme that aims to launch a movement of community involvement. The initiative combines it's corporate support to local communities with staff participation worldwide. The main aim is social integration via education and it operates both globally and locally. In 2008, the group launched an alliance with CARE, the international humanitarian organization. This partnerships has several projects, such as a school to fight exclusion in Peru, a school in a rural area in Mali, a project in Bangladesh to get children out of factories and back into school.

Société Générale considers environmental and social commitments as something central to their activities. Being aware of how the banking and financial sector has an important role in assisting the economic sector, the company is committed to conducting its activities in a responsible way, taking into account the economic, environmental and social consequences and impacts of the above mentioned activities.

Supporting Music and Visual Arts[edit]

The company carries out an important amount of activities related to cultural patronage. This includes a policy of sponsoring classical music as well as contemporary art. In this regard, the group promotes creativity and innovation with a focus on excellence. Regarding music, Société Générale supports a large amount of orchestras and music ensembles, sponsoring their activities and programmes during the whole year.

Société Générale defines itself as a company passionate about sports. Since the group was created, the bounds between it and sports have been growing tighter, offering shared experiences and exchanges between the two different worlds. Their main sponsoring activities regarding sports are carried out in the field of rugby, but the group also supports several other sports, as well as disabled sports,since 2002.
