The Olympic Games is the world’s leading sporting event, held every four years in different locations across the globe. Thousands of athletes, from over 200 nations, participate in a variety of competitions in both the Summer and Winter Olympic Games. The first ever ancient Olympic Games can be traced back to 776 BC in Greece. Although the modern Games have been modified a great deal since then, they continue to retain a unique historical legacy. The last Summer Olympics was held in London in July-August 2012. The next Games will be hosted in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
