The highly prestigious Novel Peace Prize is one of the five Nobel Prizes set up after instructions left in the will of Alfred Nobel, the Swedish scientist who invented dynamite. Since 1901, the Prize has been awarded almost every year to those who have contributed the most or the best work in the field of Peace. The winner of the Prize is chosen by 5 representatives selected by the Norwegian Parliament. Prominent figures and institutions have been awarded the prize, such as Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King, Jr. Barack Obama and the European Union.
