About Lloyds Banking Group

Lloyds Banking group was form on the 19th of January 2009, which is comprised of many brands such as Scottish Widows and Halifax. It is a UK customer focused bank offering many financial services and products from retail banking to insurance. Additionally, it has over 2000 branches within the UK with the purpose of ´Helping Britain Prosper´.

Engagement in Cultural Diplomacy

Within the Lloyds Banking Group workforce they include people from varied ethnicities, in addition to that they allow their employees a day whereby they can volunteer for any charity and or community of their choice. This is called the Give & and Gain Day. The Lloyds Banking group provides an outreach programme which offers apprenticeships and work experience placements to disadvantaged young people. For example, Jonathan Shawcross, the Chief Operating Officer for Group IT at Lloyds Banking Group is a mentor who through an ambitious scheme provides support to young Londoners from vulnerable and disadvantaged backgrounds, supporting them to set up their own social businesses. This outreach programme is called Frontline London.

Employees are also encouraged to and motivated at work via a range of reward schemes such as share plans, childcare vouchers, a cycle to work scheme and dental plans. Besides this, the firm is also keen on employee wellbeing - with their Colleague Wellbeing scheme. This is an intranet where the information focuses on four aspects of everyday life such as the body, mind, finances and work. Promotion of Human- and Civil Rights

Activities in the Field of Humanitarian Aid

Lloyds Banking Group this year partnered with BBC Children in Need. By doing so, they offered support to this cause by more than 1,000 colleagues across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland taking donations over the phone to help raise funds. Additionally, Lloyds Banking Group works with other charities such as the Alzheimer's Society and Alzheimer Scotland. Working together with charities they have been able to raise £5m towards the Live Well Campaign to fund the first UK wide dementia carers programme. The programme offers 9,000 carers the information and skills needed to help their loved one to live well with dementia.

Supporting Sports

The organisation supports and aims to get kids off the street and onto the pitch by providing free, night-time, five-a-side football for young people across Scotland. The scheme called Bank of Scotland Midnight league aims to provide a constructive and fun activity for 12-16 year olds in their spare time, with the hope that in turn it may contribute to stronger and safer communities.
