Jadwiga Zakrzewska

Jadwiga Zakrzewska – (born on 4th November 1950 in Plonsk, Poland) is a Polish politician and a Member of Parliament (III, V, VI and VII term).

Political Career[edit]

In 1980 she joined the "Solidarity" (Solidarność) party. In 1989 she was appointed chairman of the Citizens' Committee (Komitet Obywatelski) in Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki. A year later, she held the mayor's office, a role she kept until 1994.

In 1990-1997 she belonged to the Center Alliance (Porozumienie Centrum). In 1997 she was elected to the Parliament from the list of Solidarity Electoral Action (Akcja Wyborcza Solidarność). She joined the AWS Social Movement (Ruch Społeczny AWS). She gave up her mandate in April 2001 for the position of Secretary of State for the Ministry of National Defence.

In 2005 she was elected as a Member of Parliament from the Civic Platform list (Platforma Obywatelska). She was reelected in the parliamentary elections in 2007 and 2011.

Education[edit]

She trained as an economist and later graduated from the National Defence Academy in Warsaw.
