Ioannis Michelogiannakis

Ioannis Michelogiannakis was born in Heraklion, Crete in 1963. He is a Greek politician and Cardiologist. He was appointed a member of the Greek Parliament on the 11th January 2011, as he was the first runner up member of the Greek Parliament for PASOK in the national elections of 2009.

Political Career[edit]

In the municipal elections of both 1998 and 2002, he was elected in the first positions of Heraklion municipality. During this period, he served as president of the Municipal Athletic Organization of Heraklion, as president of the Municipal Artistic Organization of Heraklion, as the Alderman of Finance and as president of the Municipal Enterprise of Culture, Tourism and Development. At the same time, he was an elected member of the Prefecture Committee of PASOK in Heraklion. In the last elections in 2006 he was elected and ranked second with 17.000 votes. In the last PASOK Conference, he was re-elected as a member of the National Congress of PASOK. In the national elections of 2009 he ran for the Parliament in the Prefecture of Heraklion and he was honoured with the votes of approximately 28.500 voters.

Education Career[edit]

He graduated from the Medical School of the University of Athens and specialized in Cardiology. He speaks English and Italian.
