Hans-Peter Friedrich

Dr. Hans-Peter Friedrich is a member of the CDU/CSU and was born on March 10, 1957 in Naila, Germany. He is a lawyer by profession and was Federal Minister for Food and Agriculture between December 2013 and February 2014, and Federal Minister of the Interior between 2011 and 2013.

Political Career[edit]

Friedrich has been a member of the CSU since 1974. He has been the chairman of the Federal Constituency Conference at the Federal Constituency of Hof / Wunsiedel since 1998. He is the deputy chairman of the CSU in Upper Franconia since 1999, and the district chairman of the CSU in Upper Franconia since July 2011. He has been a member of the Bundestag since 1998. From 2005 to 2009, he was the deputy chairman of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group and responsible for the "Transport, Construction, Urban Development, Tourism, local politics".

From September 2009 to March 2011, Fredrich was the chairman of the CSU group in the German Bundestag. He was the Federal Minister of the Interior from 2011 to 2013, and from December 2013 to February 2014, the Federal Minister for Food and Agriculture. Friedrich has been the deputy chairman of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group in the German Bundestag since February 2014.

Education[edit]

Friedrich studied law in Munich and Augsburg, and completed his second state exam in 1986. He is a Doctor of Law. Friedrich further studied economics in Augsburg and the University of Hagen.
