Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, born 15 April 1990 in Paris, is an English actress and model. Her debut screen performance was a role of Hermione Granger in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in 2001. Since then, her success has continued with all other Harry Potter movies along with other roles; The Perks of Being a Wallflower and The Bling Ring, Noah to name a few. She is considered to be the fashion icon of today for many young women. Her modelling carrier started in 2005 where she became the youngest person to appear on the cover of Teen Vogue. Her modelling work has also included campaigns for Burberry and Lancôme. As a fashion consultant, she helped create a line of clothing for People Tree. Emma Watson was nominated and has won many awards; the last one in 2014 being the Britannia Awards, in category of British Artist of the Year.

Emma Watson is active and tries to spread awareness in the fields of women’s and children’s rights, poverty, and health.

Philanthropic Donations

She supports UNIFEM (Women’s fund at the United Nations) and Millennium Promise (to end extreme poverty in the world by 2025), and many charities including ShelterBox, Sense, or Great Ormond Street Hospital Children´s Charity.

Notable Actions

In July 2014, Emma Watson was appointed as a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador. In September that year, she delivered a speech at UN Headquarters in New York City helping launch the UN Women campaign HeForShe, which calls for men to advocate for gender equality. Also in September, Watson made her first country visit as a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador to Uruguay where she gave a speech that highlighted the need for increased political participation for women.
