Antoni Mężydło was born on 23rd August 1954 in Lubawa, Poland. He is a Polish politician and since 2001 a member of Parliament (IV, V, VI,VII cadency).

Political Career[edit]

Even as a student he engaged in opposition activities. He was an associate KSS KOR and Gdańsk SKS from 1977 until 1978 and belonged to the co-organizers of Free Trade Unions of the Coast. In the years 1979-1980 he organized lectures of the Society of Academic Courses. In 1981 he was the coordinator of the Centre for Social Culture Region Board of Gdansk "Solidarity". March 2, 1984 in the so-called "Toruń's kidnapping" he was abducted, tortured and imprisoned by the officers of the OAS (special group SB) in the vicinity of Okonin, and then left on a rubbish dump in Brodnica.

In the elections of 2001 he obtained a parliamentary seat as a candidate of Prawo i Sprawiedliwość (the Law and Justice) in the district of Toruń. After the elections in 2005, he was again a member in the Parliament for V term, he served as Deputy Chairman of the Infrastructure Committee.

In 1996-1997 he belonged to the Movement for Polish Reconstruction, and from 2001 he was a member of Prawo i Sprawiedliwość (the Law and Justice). In 2007 he resigned from the membership of this party. In the same year he declared that in the early parliamentary elections in 2007, he would run for the Platforma Obywatelska party (Civic Platform). On behalf of the OP obtained his third public mandate in a row to the Parliament having received the most votes of all candidates running in the district of Toruń and Włocławek. In the 2011 elections, he successfully applied for re-election.

Education[edit]

He graduated from the Faculty of Electronics, Technical University of Gdansk in 1978. In 1980 he was granted a discharge of physics at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, University of Gdansk. In 2000 he completed postgraduate studies in the field of corporate finance and capital markets at the School of Management and Marketing in Warsaw.
