Alternative Dispute Resolution

Alternative dispute resolution (ADR) is the act of settling a matter between two parties without the involvement of a third legal party. This can be achieved by various methods of dispute resolution techniques, usually mediation, negotiation, arbitration and collaborative law. ADR has become increasingly popular in recent years, partly due to the rising litigation cases overloading judicial systems, and many courts now require some form of ADR to be undertaken before a case can be brought before a magistrate.
