Alexander Funk

Alexander Funk, born June 18, 1974 in Neunkirchen, is a German politician and member of the CDU . He has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2009.

Political Career[edit]

In 1991 Funk joined the Junge Union (JU) and CDU. In the same year he was local chairman of JU Bexbach. In 1994 he held the position of chairman of the county JU Saar Palatinate. From 1999 until 2005 he was state chairman of the JU Saar . From 2002 to 2012, he was Chairman of the CDU Bexbach City Association and from 1994 to 2014 a member of the City Council of Bexbach .

Alexander Funk was Member of the Saarland Parliament from 2004 to 2009. There, he was a member of the Committees of Labor, Health and Social Affairs, economy, science and Mine Safety and finance and budget. From 2006 to 2009 Funk was chairman of the CDU group in the inquiry commission "Demographic Change".

Funk is a member of the Committee of Transport and digital infrastructure and is the Rapporteur on rail policy .

Education[edit]

After graduating with a degree in Business Administration from the University of Saarland, Fuchtel worked as Commercial Director of Sirrix from 2000. From 2003 to September 2004 he worked as an executive assistant at commercial radio Saar and Telefilm Saar.
