Alenka Bratušek (born May 31, 1970) is a member of Slovenian National Assembly and the president of the Alliance of Alenka Bratušek (Zavezništvo Alenke Bratušek; ZaAB).

Political career[edit]

From 1995 to 1999, she worked as a consultant for the Small Business Department at the Ministry of Economic Affairs. She continued her political career at the Ministy of Finance where she occupied different positions between the years 1999 and 2011. She first became a member of the National Assembly in 2011 where she stayed until 2013. On 27 February 2013, Bratušek was elected as the Prime Minister-designate to form a new government of Slovenia. She became the first Slovenian Primer Minister to resign from office; her resignation went into effect on 8 May 2014. Later she formed her own party Alliance of Alenka Bratušek. At the following election in July 2014, ZaAB won 4 seats in the National Assembly where she currently occupies a position.

Education[edit]

She obtained a degree at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology at the University of Ljubljana in 1994. Afterwards, she went on to complete a master's degree in management at the Faculty for Social Sciences in 2006.
