The al-Anfal Campaign-Iraq genocide targeted the Kurdish population in northern Iraq. Saddam Hussein intended to eradicate every Kurdish village in Iraq, and used a series of ground attacks, bombings, executions, imprisonments, mass deportations, and chemical weapons as a means to achieve this. Teenage boys and adult males were specifically targeted and killed en masse. During this campaign, it is estimated that 150,000 to 180,000 Kurdish people lost their lives as a result.
