During this event, that will take place between 16th and 20th November, people have the chance to discover other cultures, taste different foods and the new trends from around the world. The fair will host artists and sellers from more than 60 countries worldwide.
There are five mean themes in the bazaar: the first is a cultural marketplace when one can find African drums, fashion from South America, textiles from Asia, arts and crafts from Europe, jewellery from all over the world, and much more. The second pavilion concerns health and well-being, with a promotion of ecological and sustainable products and services such as organic food, natural cosmetics and textiles, Ayurveda and wellness products. In the Art and Style pavilion one can meet artists from around the world, and view their work. You can feel the festive atmosphere in the fourth pavilion, that will show a range of decorations, gift ideas and Christmas specialties. The fifth and final pavilion holds a vast range of fair trade products that are both sustainable and that also respect the principles of legal and fair work.
The first Bazaar Berlin was launched in 1962 under the name `Partners for Progress`. Every year in November around 40,000 visitors come to the Berlin Exhibition Grounds to purchase exotic articles from around the world. The event provides an opportunity to learn about other cultures and also empowers the artisan economy. The empowerment of women is also supported by Bazaar Berlin, and this year there will be twenty Palestinian women creating jewellery and handicrafts in alignment with the principles of fair trade.
Bazaar Berlin is not merely a fashion week, rather it is a campaign to broaden cultural understanding and a place where countries and cultures can meet.
